The Research Chair in Physical and Mental Co-morbidity benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year, for five years. Its goal is to further the understanding in metabolic and behavioral disturbances in the individual with obstructive sleep apnea.
In addition to its key role in storing energy, adipose tissue is now recognized as a central player involved in various biological functions. The research program of the Chair aims to further our knowledge regarding the regulation of growth and secretory function of adipose tissue through an integrative approach covering the cellular and molecular levels up to the individual. The research focuses on the impact of external influences (eg exercise and nutritional interventions, hypoxia, pollutants, etc.) on adipose tissue metabolism. The research aims at a better understanding of the pathophysiology, the treatment and the prevention of obesity and related metabolic disorders.

The Research Chair in Mental Health benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year for five years. Its research program aims to better understand the psychological and behavioral disturbances in individuals affected by anxiety and depression.
The research team focuses on the etiology and treatment of anxiety and depression. All primary and secondary care combined, anxiety and depressive disorders are among the most common mental illnesses. They are associated with a state of suffering and are a heavy burden on society. The Research Chair in Mental Health focuses on the effectiveness of body-mind and psychosocial interventions, while assessing the mechanisms that contribute to therapeutic change.
Since the creation of the Chair in 2012, the research team has received, without interruption, research grants from numerous organizations. The Chair has also been able to complete clinical trials at the ISM, while publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

The Montfort Research Chair on the Organization of Healthcare Services benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year for five years. Its goal is to answer the following research question: How can we improve collaboration to optimize healthcare services?
By answering this question through several research projects, the Chair aims to improve the organisation of healthcare services as well as to generate concrete benefits for managers, processionals, support staff, volunteers, patients and families.
The purpose of the Chair’s research program is to describe, understand and explain the impact of the interaction between individual and organizational factors, while also demonstrating the links between collaboration and innovation within healthcare services in Canada and, internationally.

The ISM Research Chair in Medical Pedagogy benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year for five years. It is the result of a partnership between the Centre d’appui pédagogique en santé pour la francophonie “Center for Educational Support in Healthcare for the Francophonie” (CAPSAF) of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa and the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM).
The purpose of the Chair is to develop an innovative research program in education to optimize the training of medical students, residents and physicians with continuing medical education so they can become capable of working in multi-professional teams. This will allow them to meet the healthcare needs of the French-speaking population in Canada.
The Chair’s team is working on the evaluation and improvement of the various learning activities deployed in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, at the ISM and at the internship sites at Montfort. New learning activities created should be adapted to the needs of learners and supervisors. For example, we are interested in self-learning, active methods, simulation (online and face-to-face), and the development of observation and measurement tools for evaluating the level of knowledge.
The projects ultimately aim to improve the training of students, residents and physicians, thereby contributing to the well-being of patients through the provision of the highest quality healthcare.

The Addoceo Research Chair in Human Ressources Development in Healthcare (ISM-UQO) benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year for five years. It is the result of a collaboration between the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM) and the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO).
The purpose of the Chair is to develop an innovative research program to support the creation of an organisational environment that puts emphasis on learning. The ultimate objective is to foster the development of the skills necessary to the members of the organisations, regardless of their levels, functions or expertise.
With learning as its central theme, the Chair’s work will be part of a collaborative approach that promotes both synergy and networking of research expertise, including industrial relations, education, administrative sciences, organisational psychology and ergonomics (without being exhaustive). The research will be guided by three founding principles. From the theoretical point of view, the work will contribute to the improvement of general knowledge about human resource development. Empirically, the work will provide a better understanding of workplace learning. Finally, in practice, the Chair’s work will help develop interventions that can increase the skills of healthcare professionals.
